About HubSpot MCP
HubSpot MCP on this page means HubSpot's official remote MCP server, hosted by HubSpot at https://mcp.hubspot.com. It lets an AI client search and update CRM records, work with campaigns, marketing emails, pages and blog posts, and read conversations, all under the signed-in user's HubSpot permissions. HubSpot's own connectors for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot run on this server.
Which HubSpot MCP is which. HubSpot documents two servers, and an older npm package is still on the registry:
- Remote HubSpot MCP server (this page): hosted at
https://mcp.hubspot.com, OAuth with PKCE, for working with your CRM data. - HubSpot Developer MCP server: runs locally through the HubSpot CLI (
hs mcp setup). It helps coding agents build HubSpot apps and CMS assets. It does not query your CRM records. @hubspot/mcp-serveron npm: an earlier local beta that used a private app access token. Its last release is 0.4.0 from June 18, 2025, its npm entry lists no source repository, and HubSpot's current MCP docs do not mention it. The GitHub link that older listings used,github.com/HubSpot/hubspot-mcp-server, no longer resolves.

HubSpot says manage_website_page, manage_blog_post and render_asset are available only in Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini.
Setup
Option 1: HubSpot's ready-made connectors
HubSpot publishes connectors for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot, and says they are powered by the remote server. For Claude, HubSpot's steps are: in Claude (web, desktop or mobile) open Settings, choose Customize, click Browse and search for HubSpot, install the connector, sign in to HubSpot, and choose what it can access. HubSpot says this needs a paid Claude plan (Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise), and that a Super Admin or a user with App Marketplace permissions must complete the HubSpot side first before others in the organization can connect.
Option 2: any MCP client with OAuth and PKCE
HubSpot's general steps are to add a new MCP server in your AI tool, enter https://mcp.hubspot.com, and sign in to HubSpot when prompted. For a custom client, HubSpot's setup guide has you create the OAuth app first:
- In HubSpot, go to Development, then MCP Connectors, and click Create MCP connector.
- Enter a name, an optional description, one or more redirect URLs and an optional icon, then click Create.
- Copy the client ID, client secret and redirect URL from the connector's details page into your MCP client.
- Run the OAuth flow: pick the HubSpot account, review the permissions and authorize.
PKCE is required: your client must send a code_challenge with code_challenge_method=S256 and the matching code_verifier at token exchange. For quick testing HubSpot points to MCP Inspector and the redirect URL http://localhost:6274/oauth/callback/debug.
HubSpot's docs do not give a Claude Code command. Because HubSpot's guide has custom clients use the connector's client ID, client secret and redirect URL, one way to add it in Claude Code is to add http://localhost:8080/callback as a redirect URL on your connector, then run claude mcp add --transport http --client-id <your-connector-client-id> --client-secret --callback-port 8080 hubspot https://mcp.hubspot.com, which prompts for the client secret.
The Developer MCP server (for building HubSpot apps)
If you want a coding agent to scaffold and deploy HubSpot projects, this is the separate local server. HubSpot's steps: install or update the CLI with npm install -g @hubspot/cli (version 8.2.0 or higher), run hs mcp setup, pick your clients, choose whether to use standalone mode (which runs npx @hubspot/cli instead of a global install), and restart the client. Supported clients are Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor, Gemini CLI, VS Code and Windsurf. HubSpot's tools reference lists 22 tools across documentation, developer projects, account and apps, and CMS, including search-docs, create-project, upload-project, deploy-project and create-test-account.
Authentication and permissions
- You do not set scopes yourself. HubSpot says scopes depend on the tools available when the connector is installed and on what the user grants. If scopes change, users reinstall the connector.
- Every action respects the user's existing HubSpot permissions, so a user sees only what they could see in HubSpot.
- Tools that create or update records, campaigns and content ask the user to confirm in several cases. That is a prompt, not a read-only mode: HubSpot's docs describe no read-only switch for the remote server.
- Access tokens expire and are renewed with the refresh token. If the refresh token is invalid, run the full authorization again.
- If the account has Sensitive Data turned on, activity data (calls, emails, meetings, notes, tasks) and conversation data are blocked in the MCP server.
- Claude Enterprise admins can restrict the connector to company-provisioned accounts with verified domains.
Limitations and things to watch
search_crm_objectsallows up to 5 filter groups with 6 filters each and returns up to 200 results per page.get_crm_objectstakes up to 100 IDs per request.query_crm_datadoes not support joins, aliases, subqueries, association traversal or currency conversion.- The server is built on HubSpot's CRM search API, which has no vector search.
- Revenue objects (carts, invoices, orders, line items, products, quotes, subscriptions) are labeled beta, and quote management is beta.
- Some tools are hub-gated: AEO tools need Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise, and quotes need Revenue Hub Professional or Enterprise plus the
manage revenue objectsscope. Free accounts cannot create custom pipelines but can edit the default one. - Write tools can publish pages and blog posts. Keep confirmation prompts on and review what the agent proposes.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Official and hosted by HubSpot, so there is nothing to install for CRM work.
- OAuth with PKCE and the user's own permissions, instead of a shared private app token.
- Covers far more than contacts and deals: campaigns, marketing email, pages, blog posts, conversations and AEO.
- Ready-made connectors for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot.
Cons
- Custom clients need an MCP connector created in HubSpot plus PKCE support.
- No documented read-only mode.
- Several useful tools depend on paid hubs, and revenue objects are still beta.
- No public source code for the remote server.
Who it is for
A good fit if:
- Your team runs on HubSpot and wants an assistant to summarize pipeline health, find stalled deals, or turn meeting notes into CRM updates.
- Marketers want an agent to draft emails, pages or blog posts and read campaign results inside HubSpot.
- You want a hosted, permission-aware connection instead of managing API tokens.
Not the right tool if:
- You want an agent to build HubSpot apps or CMS themes. Use the Developer MCP server instead.
- Your CRM is Salesforce. See the Salesforce MCP page.
- You need one connection across many apps. A hub such as Zapier MCP or Composio MCP may fit better.
What we could not verify
- A launch or general availability date for the remote server. Neither HubSpot's docs nor its AI connectors page gives one.
- Whether clients other than HubSpot's own connectors can connect with only the URL, without a client ID and secret.
- Rate limits and token lifetimes. HubSpot does not publish them for the MCP server.
- Whether HubSpot still supports the
@hubspot/mcp-servernpm package. It has not been updated since June 2025 and is not in the current docs.

Custom clients need an MCP connector and PKCE support, there is no documented read-only mode, and several tools need paid hubs. Developers building HubSpot apps want the separate Developer MCP server instead.
